15th - 22nd October 2011
A new course for 2011, Patricia and Rowena (a mother and daughter team) will lead you through a week of working en plein air to develop a rich, lively, personal sketchbook recording your experience on the Summer Isles. With over thirty years of art teaching experience between them, Tricia and Rowena will introduce you to both new media and techniques, helping you to develop your own personal style. Alongside this we will refer to the work of other artists to help influence and advance your work further.
All sketchbooks and materials will be provided by the tutors, however as we will be working predominantly outside, suitable clothing for a variety of weathers is advised. No previous skill or experience is necessary and students of all standards are welcome. The course is very much focused on an enjoyment for creating a beautiful sketchbook, a work of art in itself, working in the fresh air, and a desire to experiment with a wide variety of media and techniques.
Accommodation will be in the cottages on the Island, and we will enjoy home-cooked meals using many organic, fairtrade and locally-sourced ingredients. Most of the food will be vegetarian, with some local meat and fish where possible.
The cost of the course is £530, including full board, transport to and from the mainland, tuition and materials. A 50% deposit is required on booking, with the balance due 28 days before the course. Please contact Lizzie@summer-isles.com or call 01854 622252 for more information.
