MURDO'S COTTAGE
Sleeps 4/5. A traditional stone croft in a sheltered spot, overlooking pasture and the hills on the mainland
Ground Floor: Sitting-room with open fire; kitchen with oil fired stove, dining table, gas cooker and fridge; bathroom with shower and toilet; porch/sitting area.
First Floor: Two twin bedrooms and one very small single.
A CD/casette player/radio is provided.

Now there are no sheep on Tanera the vegetation has grown quite lush. A few Highland steers are kept to graze the grasslands below Murdo's. This enables a wider variety of plants to flourish with benefits for insect and bird life.
Sleeps five +. Situated on high ground with wide views to the mainland and a birds-eye view of any action in the bay
Ground Floor: large kitchen with gas cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, dining area, oil-fired Raeburn. Sitting room with wood/coal burning stove. Cloak room.
First Floor: one double bedrooms, one twin bedroom, one single bedroom. One bathroom with toilet, one shower room with toilet.
The house has oil fired central heating throughout, a radio-cassette-CD player is provided, but no television. They garden is unfenced.

There is an option on additional accommodation in the cabin behind the Schoolhouse. It consists of two rooms each with a pair of bunks, plus a toilet and wash hand basin. The cost of the cabin is £10 per night per room.
Tanera once had a thriving fishing/crofting community, and the school catered for up to thirty children. With its commanding views, truancy should not have been a problem!
Sleeps six +. Overlooking the bay with views to the hills on the mainland.
Ground Floor: Large sitting-room wood open fire; dining/summer on which French windows; fitted kitchen with gas cooker and fridge freezer: shower room; toilet.
First Floor: One twin bedroom (3rd bed if required); one twin bedroom (bunks); two single bedrooms; bathroom with shower and toilet.
Oil fired central heating; garden fenced with sheep netting. Radio cassette CD player provided.

There are signs of past grazing activity scattered over the island - shielings, lazy beds, peat diggings. More recently there has been much tree planting alongside the regeneration of native species. Please mind where you walk: some of them are still rather small.

1) Electricity and water are inlcuded in the hire. Coal for fires is available - no charge for the first bag.
2) Bedlinen and tea towels are provided, but not towels.
3) Dogs: We charge £10 per dog per week. Please keep them under control at all times.
4) Groceries are available locally - you can place an order ready for your arrival, details on request.
5) Telephone - there is a BT payphone outside the Post Office. Not all mobiles work here!
6) At each end of your stay we will ferry you in our boat 'Patricia'. Further trips to the mainland can be made at our mutual convenience. We make a small charge for non-routine crossings.
7) Payment - a 50% deposit will secure your booking, the balance being due 28 days before the start of your holiday. In the event of cancellation, if a re-let is obtained, we can refund your deposit.
